How can I clean my stainless steel pistol at home?

Ive had my xdm 40 subcompact for idk about 2 months now maybe 3 it was a gift from my mom i havent really had the money for a cleaning kit so i was wondering if thier was anything i could use to polish or lube the pistol at home tips on where to lube please im new to this i do have this really old looking gun conditioner from Kleen Bore is the name maybe it doesnt need to be lubed or cleaned i havent fired it yet :/
