Minecraft base advice?

I had a very large cave/home system set up with several chests and lots of good mining locations. However, I got lost in the Nether but was able to make my way out. when i got out, I was very very far away from my house, I used a compass to find my spawn but i cannot find my base no matter how hard I look and I set up several large beacons. Should I continue to look for it or start over in a new place? I have several diamond tools, crafting bench, furnace etc.
