Do you cook for your kids in teflon-coated nonstick pans?

Do you worry about the teflon or do you think it's safe? I don't buy them anymore because I couldn't get them to last more than a few months before the stuff flaked off but some people say the teflon is safe and some people say it's dangerous to your health. I bought a set of stainless steel cookware which I love but some of my friends complain it sticks (I think they just don't know how to cook, they just put the food in the pan and come back when the timer beeps without stirring it or anything).
